Cardassian Galor Class Cruiser
- This page is about the playable ship. See Galor Class for the NPC vessel.
Obtaining[edit | edit source]
The Cardassian Galor Class Cruiser is only available as a rare drop from the [Cardassian Lock Box] or the [Cardassian Lock Box - Gold]. They may also be found on the exchange, although they may be quite expensive.
Description[edit | edit source]
The broken alliance between the Cardassians and the Dominion was one of the pivotal conflicts of the Dominion War. Faced with the loss of a valuable ally and continued pressure from the allied forces of the Alpha Quadrant, the Founders were forced to retreat to a hostile Cardassia Prime where Damar led a popular revolt that sapped away Dominion soldiers and resources. This rebellion opened the door for the Dominion's ultimate defeat.
Recently declassified documents reveal that during the rebellion, Damar arranged for a small surplus of Cardassian Galor-class warships to be given to both the Federation and the Klingon Empire to aid in their efforts fighting the Jem'Hadar. With the threat of the Dominion again looming, the Cardassian Detapa Council has finally agreed to release these forgotten vessels for Starfleet and Klingon Defense Force use.

Performance[edit | edit source]
The Galor-class cruiser's combat performance and survivability are on par with Tier 5 Federation Cruisers. The ship has a balanced Console and Bridge Officer layout, giving it the ability to mix survivability and hitting power, while still being able to take an RCS Accelerator console for extra maneuverability. The ship has extremely strong shields (worthy of a Science Vessel) and an excellent shield modifier, meaning it is remarkably durable in spite of its rather low Hull Strength, and ideal for shield tanking.
The ship's turn rate of 10 is on par with Vor'cha type vessels, and boasts a slightly higher Impulse Modifier, meaning it will equal most Battle Cruisers and outpace any Federation Cruiser. Finally, while it cannot take Dual Cannons/Dual Heavy Cannons, the ship's Spiral Wave Disruptors combine the best aspects of Phasers and Disruptors, making Beam Arrays an even better choice than normal. +10 Weapons and Shield Power complete the ship's all-round package, boosting the ship's offense and defense even further.
