Blockade Runner Escort Retrofit
The Blockade Runner Escort Retrofit is a Vice Admiral level (Tier 5) Federation Escort. It is obtainable from Steam as part of the Steam Starter Pack, which is currently $24.99 USD. It is not purchasable otherwise.
The Steamrunner class has been around since the late 24th century, but due to its reliability and effectiveness, it is still in limited use today. The Steamrunner class saw significant action in the Battle of Sector 001 against The Borg, as well as countless battles and sorties during the Dominion War. Simply put, the Steamrunner is fast, agile, and tough.

[edit] Obtaining
The ship is available as part of the Steam Starter Pack, and is purchasable through Steam for $24.99 USD.
The pack also comes with several other items, including 2 bridge officers, an XP boost, the Lieutenant level (Tier 1) Blockade Runner Escort and several Uncommon and Rare Mk II items that can help a new player.

[edit] Steamrunner Class
The Steamrunner-class starship's design serves as the basis for the 25th-century Zephyr-class Heavy Escort, and pioneered many of the Zephyr's signature design features. These include unusual catamaran nacelles that are mounted directly onto the saucer section and a trailing secondary hull, suspended between the nacelles. Thus the Steamrunner's nacelles effectively double up as the pylons connecting the saucer and secondary hull. Unlike the Zephyr-class, though, the Steamrunner's deflector is not mounted on the saucer but on the trailing secondary hull, akin to the mission/weapons pod on an Akira-class ship. Like the NX-class escort, the secondary hull hangs below the saucer, with the connecting struts angling down. The saucer itself resembles an upside-down spade blade, sloping downward from the nacelles.[edit] Performance
With a default hull rating and shield modifier equal to the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, as well as a total of ten available console slots, the Steamrunner is a very durable ship, exceeding all other escorts (including Fleet-grade vessels) except the Chimera Heavy Destroyer and Jem'Hadar. However, with an inferior turn rate and slightly inferior impulse modifier, it is still less maneuverable than a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship. A compensation might be to attach Console - Engineering - RCS Accelerator.
With 4 tactical console slots instead of 5 on the Jem'Hadar, it also has less maximum damage potential. However, it has a superior crew count (200 vs. 50), and 1 more science console slot. Its bridge officer layout is also less flexible than the Jem'Hadar's, with 2 Lieutenant Engineering stations (vs. the Jem'Hadar's two Universal Lieutenant stations), and 1 Ensign Science Station. This setup suggests that the Steamrunner is intended to be a more support/tanking-oriented escort, rather than a pure damage-dealer.

[edit] Notes
- So far, this is the only ship, besides Veteran Rewards like the Chimera Heavy Destroyer, that is not purchasable within the shipyard with Dilithium, through the C-Store, or via a lock box. It can only be purchased through Steam as part of the Steam Starter Pack, which also comes with the Lieutenant variant.
- Branflakes stated on November 13, 2012, that the Shield Modifier of 0.7 is incorrect and was not intended upon release of the ship, as the Shield Modifier should be 1.0! On November 15, PWE patched the Game with the fix for the T5 Steamrunner Retro and Branflakes stated that all Modifiers on the T5 version of this Ship have been corrected and now meet T5 needs. The fix includes the correct Shield Modifier of 1.0, as well as fixes to the base stats, HP, and shields. - http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=6589571#post6589571
- Once owned, the ship can be re-claimed via the shipyard if dismissed, but the Steam Starter Pack it comes from can only be claimed once per character due to it having a skill point boost and some Bridge Officers inside.
- Ship will not appear in the shipyard if the pack isn't owned.
