As the starting level for Klingon Defense Force characters was raised to level 20 (Lieutenant Commander) with Season 5, this vessel was removed from the playable ship roster for Klingon players, the Norgh Bird-of-Prey taking its place. With the Legacy of Romulus expansion and the reinstatement of KDF players starting at level 1, this ship was returned to the regular playable Klingon ship roster and is once more the starting vessel. In addition, Federation players will command the B'rel class I.K.S. Targ during much of “The Doomsday Device”.
Variants[edit | edit source]
B'rel class[edit | edit source]B'rel class has some interesting design features. The wings of the ship have a feathered wing pattern on them to mimic a bird. The main hull has a dual ridged dorsal section with a neck leading off to the bridge. Like all Birds-of-Prey, the vessel's wings move up when moving, and then move down when entering combat.
Koloth class[edit | edit source]
B'Rotlh class[edit | edit source]B'Rotlh Bird-of-Prey for 500 from the C-Store.
Performance[edit | edit source]
While small and having weak defenses compared to the Federation Light Cruiser, the B'rel Bird-of-Prey is a powerful warship and extremely versatile. The ship can equip Dual Cannons, has a very high turn rate, and has universal bridge officer slots. Unlike the more advanced Birds-of-Prey at higher tiers, the B'rel Bird-of-Prey only has a regular cloak that cannot be engaged during combat.
The B'rel Bird-of-Prey's high maneuverability and forward firepower make hit-and-run tactics very effective, and also help balance out the ship's weak hull and shields.
Standard Configuration[edit | edit source]
Klingon starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style. Note that Klingon Standard Issue items are equivalent to mark II.
