Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit
The Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit is an Admiral (Tier 5) level Federation Cruiser vessel. This Retrofit vessel also has a Commander (Tier 3) level equivalent. Starfleet upgraded this vessel with the latest standard equipment used in the early 25th century. Purchasing this ship also unlocks the "Enterprise-B" costume and the "Excelsior" ship costume for all Rear Admirals and above on an account. The ship can be purchased from the Cryptic Store for 2,000 .
Excelsior classExcelsior class was a popular and reliable Starfleet ship used for almost a century. The first ship, the namesake U.S.S. Excelsior, was constructed in the 2280s and designed originally for a prototype of a Transwarp Drive (as seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock). Despite the failure of the drive, Starfleet recommissioned the Excelsior with a standard warp drive, and began producing more Excelsior-class ships to replace the aging Constitution-class.
The Excelsior-class proved to be a reliable and versatile design, and is still in active service alongside much newer ships. The Excelsior-class participated in the Dominion War and the Battle of Wolf 359.
The Excelsior-class, similar to the Constitution-class, underwent a major refit program, adding additional impulse engines, modifications to the warp nacelles, and the expansion of the engineering hull. These modifications are available in Ship Customization.
Excelsior class (refit)2290 with larger engines and an extended engineering section. The Excelsior refit was made popular by vessels such as the U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) as seen in Star Trek: Generations, and the USS Lakota as seen in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Federation Retrofit vessels come with built-in abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Retrofit starships.
The Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit features the same hull strength and weapon slots as other Cruisers in its tier, but as it has a lower crew the repair rate is less than the other Cruisers. It makes up for this with a slightly better Turn Rate, allowing for improved maneuverability. Its bridge consoles lean heavily towards tactical and engineering (the same as the Assault Cruiser), while the bridge officer stations balance access to a high level Tactical ability with strong engineering capabilities at the expense of science stations.
As a damage dealer it remains competitive with Vice Admiral level cruisers, such as the Assault Cruiser Refit.
The Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit does not have a Transwarp Console like its tier 3 equivalent: the bonus and Transwarp abilities are now built directly into the ship, freeing up a console slot. The Transwarp Computer from the tier 3 Excelsior can be equipped to provide its warp core efficiency bonus if desired.
