Ability: Boarding Party

[] Overview

Boarding Party is a unique Engineering . Up to three Boarding Party shuttles are shot at the enemy ship. Assuming the shuttles aren't destroyed, a general Boarding Party debuff is applied for about twenty seconds. In addition, for each shuttle that makes it, one of two extra debuffs are applied: a hull damage-over-time or a subsystem sabotage.

Drawbacks of this ability include the randomness of the applied debuffs and the fragile nature of the shuttles; one shot generally destroys them. But, the possible upshot of knocking out a battleship's weapons and shields, in addition to direct hull damage, can be enticing, if you're willing to spend the slot.

  • Game Description: Boarding Party launches up to three assault shuttles at the target. If they arrive safely, they will cause damage the ship’s crew and subsystems. Each shuttle launched removes twenty crew from your ship who attempt to beam back upon completing their mission.

  • Creates 3 level X+1 Boarding Party shuttles.
  • To self: -10 Crew per shuttle (Return if successful)
  • To target: 50% chance to Disable either Weapons, Shields, Impulse Engines or Auxiliary Subsystem for 10 sec.
  • To target: 75% chance to kill 5% or 2 crew (Whichever is less) per shuttle every 3 sec for 10 sec.
  • To target: 50% chance to add +4 sec (Delay) to recharge time to one of the following systems: Energy Weapons, Projectiles, Tactical, Engineering or Science abilities.
Rank II: Lieutenant Commander 1 min 40 sec 750
  • Creates 3 level X+1 Boarding Party shuttles.
  • To self: -10 Crew per shuttle (Return if successful)
  • To target: 66% chance to Disable either Weapons, Shields, Impulse Engines or Auxiliary Subsystem for 10 sec.
  • To target: 85% chance to kill 7% or 3 crew (Whichever is less) per shuttle every 3 sec for 10 sec.
  • To target: 66% chance to add +4 sec (Delay) to recharge time to one of the following systems: Energy Weapons, Projectiles, Tactical, Engineering or Science abilities.
Rank III: Commander 1 min 40 1000
  • Creates 3 level X+1 Boarding Party shuttles.
  • To self: -10 Crew per shuttle (Return if successful)
  • To target: 83% chance to Disable either Weapons, Shields, Impulse Engines or Auxiliary Subsystem for 10 sec.
  • To target: 90% chance to kill 8% or 4 crew (Whichever is less) per shuttle every 3 sec for 10 sec.
  • To target: 83% chance to add +4 sec (Delay) to recharge time to one of the following systems: Energy Weapons, Projectiles, Tactical, Engineering or Science abilities.
X = the level of player.

Upgrading this ability to rank 9 will reduce the (recharge) cooldown from 1 min 40 sec to only 1 minute.

  1. The description specifies "twenty crew" per shuttle, but it's actually 10 crew / shuttle as noted by the effects list.
  • vessels using this ability use transporters instead of shuttlecraft.
